AARPO Files a Motion to Intervene

AARPO files a motion to intervene in Dr. Jordan Peterson’s judicial review.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA - March 1, 2023

The Association of Aggrieved Regulated Professionals of Ontario (AARPO) is seeking to intervene in the judicial review of Dr. Jordan Peterson's case against the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Dr. Peterson, a professor and clinical psychologist, is challenging the College's decision to require him to undergo a Specified Continuing Educational or Remediation Program (SCERP), before he can continue to practice. The ordered SCERP is a form of forced re-education.

AARPO, a newly formed association that represents regulated professionals in Ontario who have been unfairly treated by their governing bodies, has filed a motion to intervene in the judicial review. The association aims to participate in the proceedings to provide a voice for regulated professionals who may face similar disciplinary actions in the future. The motion to intervene is currently under review by the court, and a decision is expected in the coming weeks. If granted leave, AARPO will have the opportunity to participate in the case to provide a unique perspective on the issues facing regulated professionals in Ontario.
